Backpack Blessings: When God Places a Ministry in Your Hands
Backpack Blessings: When God Places a Ministry in Your Hands
Have you ever felt the need to help others but did not know how? Have you ever wondered what your calling is — not in a general sense, but in a specific, practical, right-now kind of way? Have you ever felt God nudge you toward something you did not fully understand yet? Have you ever received a calling that came without a detailed explanation — just a clear, unmistakable sense that this is what you are supposed to do? And have you ever said yes to something simply because God asked, trusting that His reasons are enough?
That is where Backpack Blessings begins.
A Calling, Not a Campaign
Backpack Blessings initiated in my husband's heart. We have always had a heart for children — wanting to help them in some way — but for a long time we did not know how. We started almost four years ago. The first two years, we helped through a non-profit organization local to us during the school season and Christmas. Then last year, God was nudging his heart to go further — to start providing backpacks not only filled with school supplies, but also snacks for the children as well. Everything came out of our own pockets, because we strongly believe that God provides.
Matthew 25:40 (NIV) says, "The king will reply, 'Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
Our hearts have been not only to provide for them, but to love them without keeping count of who needs what. And God showed up in ways we did not even plan for — there were people who, due to lack of transportation, helped deliver these items to the children. That is how wonderful our God is.
Knowing this, Backpack Blessings is not a program we designed. It is not a strategy we mapped out on a whiteboard. It is a ministry that God placed in our hearts — and our response was simply to be obedient.
God has His reasons. We may not always see the full picture of why He calls us to certain things, and we do not need to. What we know is that when God places something in your hands, the right response is to hold it carefully, steward it faithfully, and trust Him with everything that follows.
That is the spirit behind this ministry. Simple obedience to a clear calling.
What Backpack Blessings Is
The Heart Behind It
Backpack Blessings is one of the three pillars of Kingdom Timekeepers — Ministry — and it is the one that takes us outside of the digital world and into the hands and lives of real children.
The mission is straightforward: to bless children in need with backpacks, school supplies, and snacks. Not because they earned it. Not because there is anything in it for us. But because God sees every child, and He calls His people to be the hands and feet that carry that love into the world in practical, tangible ways.
Every backpack that goes out is prayed over. Every single one is a small but significant message to a child that says — you are seen, you are valued, and someone cared enough to make sure you were prepared.
Who It Serves
Backpack Blessings exists for any child in need. There are no complicated qualifications. There are no boundaries on who deserves to be blessed. If a child needs supplies to start a school year with confidence and dignity, that is enough.
1 Timothy 5:8 (ESV) reminds us, "But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever." We take that seriously — not just for our own households, but for the children God places in our path.
Why Ministry Is a Pillar of Kingdom Timekeepers
Kingdom Timekeepers is built on three pillars — Life, Ministry, and Business. They are not separate tracks. They are connected together intentionally because we believe that a faith-based business cannot be truly Kingdom-centered if it only serves the person at the top.
Ministry is not an afterthought here. It is not something we do after the business becomes profitable enough. It is foundational. It is part of what this platform exists to do.
Backpack Blessings is the visible expression of that conviction. It is proof that building quietly does not mean building selfishly. It means building with purpose — and allowing what God produces through your obedience to overflow into the lives of others.
How You Can Be a Part of This
We want to be clear about something before we go any further. We are not here to ask for money. We are not running a fundraising campaign or creating pressure around giving. That is not what this is.
What we are doing is opening a door — and inviting anyone who feels led to walk through it.
Pray and Intercede
The most powerful thing you can do for any ministry is pray. If Backpack Blessings resonates with you, would you simply lift it up? Pray for the children who will receive these backpacks. Pray for the hands that pack them. Pray that every single one lands exactly where God intends it to go.
Spread the Word
If you know of people who intercede for others, or a community that gathers together to pray, share this. The Word of God says in Matthew 18:20, "For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them" (NIV). You never know whose hands this story needs to reach.
Get Involved Locally
Sometimes the best way to support a ministry is to start one in your own backyard. If Backpack Blessings has stirred something in you — a desire to serve the children in your own community — do not wait for permission. Ask God what He is placing in your hands. Then say yes.
Final Words
We did not choose this ministry because it was convenient or strategic. We chose it because God chose us for it — and obedience is always the right response to a clear calling.
If even one child walks into a new school year feeling seen and prepared because of what this ministry does, it is worth every effort. That is the kind of fruit that lasts.
If Backpack Blessings has touched your heart today, we would love for you to stay connected. Subscribe to the Kingdom Timekeepers blog so you never miss an update on this ministry or anything else we are building — one faithful, intentional step at a time.
