How often do we feel overwhelmed due to many ideas lurking in our minds? When was the last time you asked God to order your thoughts? Have you found yourself desperate to find some structure? When was the last time you experienced a breakthrough that helped you see clearly?
I’ve spent years trying out new ideas as they come to mind, and every time I thought that each idea was a good one.
“This is it.”
I often found myself saying this, but it wasn’t “it.” What was “it” was the fact that I was spending so much money that my household and my marriage were suffering. Why? There was no wisdom, no foundation, and no structure to follow. I based my decisions on the next “shiny object,” and my identity was on the next “Imposter Syndrome.”
Have you ever found yourself in a similar situation? If you have, let me remind you that, “You Are Not Alone.”
Asking God To Order My Mind
Fast forward to now, I was feeling frustrated because I was still getting so many ideas, and was getting confused by all this, until one day, as I was sitting in my living room in my solitude, I asked God to give my mind some order. I laid it all out before Him, and mentioned that I needed structure to work on these ideas in sequence.
See, as far as I can remember, my mind has always been scattered. That has been my thought process for years. And, to be honest, that’s the same way I talk (I can express myself better in writing 🤷).
Personal Story
As far as I can remember, back when I first started college, I had to do a presentation in front of my class.
Unfortunately, I did not prepare for this presentation, so the professor sat me down on a chair, in front of the class and said, “This is an example of what not doing your work looks like. This is not what you want to do.” Yes, I was upset. But I shouldn’t be upset. Why? I brought that upon myself for not having structure or even jotting down the things I needed to get done for the presentation. I did not prepare! And although the professor gave me another chance, and I did my part, I gave an excellent presentation this time (finally!).
When we don’t have Christ in our lives (I wasn’t serving God at that time), we believe we can get away with a lot of stuff. The point I want to make with my personal story is that we cannot make things happen on our own strength and will. We cannot go through life thinking that we have it all together or figured out because along the way, we will face a moment of embarrassment (just like it happened to me 🤦).
This is an example of the type of behavior a woman of God should not engage in. I place my own example here so that you know that I don’t come from a place of perfection and that I have it all together. I think the majority of us can relate to the fact that we have gone through some type of difficulty in our lives. I hope this example sets the stage for a mindset shift. One that is aligned with God’s will and brings excellence, integrity, and honor.
Desiring To Be a Kingdom Timekeeper
If you desire to be a Kingdom Timekeeper, the first step is to realize that we cannot do things without God. He is our CEO and we are His managers. He entrusted us with the time resource, and we need to steward it well. Recognizing that we don’t have it all together, but we want to start anew, we can pray this today:
“Father God, I come before You just as I am to ask You for forgiveness. I ask that You forgive me for not stewarding time in a manner that is pleasing to You, and I come before You humbly to start brand new. Forgive me for having an attitude that is not pleasing to Your eyes. Forgive me of any evil thoughts, wrong intentions and motives, and help me see things and time the way You see them. I place any idea that comes to mind before You and I ask that You teach me Your ways. Your ways are better than mine. Take charge of my life, ministry, and business. Take charge of my to-do list, and anything that I have planned for today. You created the earth and the heavens, so You know what I need. I pray that You bring order in my mind, my life, my business, and that you direct my path. Show me what to do, what to focus on, and which way I should go. Lord God, I pray that You give me structure to my scattered mind. I want to work alongside You. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.”
Hey, Welcome Kingdom Timekeeper!
If you prayed this, congratulations! I am so glad that you did. It makes my heart so happy and fulfilled. You have made a decision that will bring order not only in your business and ministry, but also in your life. If you haven’t accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, and you want to make that extra step today, click here and start your journey with God, and become a part of our faith family. Hallelujah!
Proverbs 3:6 (AMP) “In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him, And He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way].”
Asking God to order our mind is the first step a Christian entrepreneur, business owner, and leader recognizes that we can’t do anything without Him. Some may succeed at it, but I highly doubt they will have peace, joy, and happiness along their journey.
John 15:5 (AMP) “I am the Vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in Me and I in him bears much fruit, for [otherwise] apart from Me [that is, cut off from vital union with Me] you can do nothing.”
Desperate To Find Structure
It wasn’t until this year (2025), that I found myself desperate to find structure. I’ve been living my entire life, doing business, and even ministry just “going with the flow.” The way I approached everything was with this mindset, “Let’s see what happens.” Have you said this before? This is not the mindset of Christ. This mindset is a dream killer, a goal breaker, a passion-less heart, and a life that has lost its flavor.
John 10:10 (AMP) “The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy…”
This is exactly what the enemy wants: for us to stay at a place of stagnation, confusion, and despair. He wants us to continue identifying ourselves with our past, what we used to do and how we used to be. But God wants to redeem us.
Breakthrough: The Beginning of Redemption
The Lord was seeing what the enemy was trying to do in my life. It was something I wasn’t aware of. So many people identify us with our past because that’s all they know. But did you know that we also face a battle with Imposter Syndrome within ourselves?
We often operate businesses with old strategies and old systems when everything else around is changing. We often associate ourselves with how well things were going in the past, and we want to keep it that way now, but these things no longer serve us. Why? Because God wants to do a new thing for you (and me!). Maybe things worked out back then, but God wasn’t there.
Quick Testimony
As I was walking up my hallway in my small apartment, I heard the Lord’s voice (it was the still small voice) say something like this: “New wine cannot enter into old wineskins. Maybe things worked out before, but I wasn’t there.” Whoa! I just had a revelation there!
I can’t remember if it was right after or the day after that I felt led to go into my home office, and I had my breakthrough. I was directed to read the Book of Ruth. This particular verse brought me to tears:
“May the Lord reward you for what you have done, and may you receive a full reward from the Lord God of Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge” (Ruth 2:12, CSB).
As I kept reading this Book, I also came across this verse that sealed the deal with my past, and turned the page to a new me.
Ruth 3:11 (CSB) “Now don’t be afraid, my daughter. I will do for you whatever you say, since all the people in my town know that you are a woman of noble character.”
These words were emphasized “woman of noble character,” and I finally heard this word, “Redeemed.”
Kingdom Timekeepers, I cried just typing those words. The presence of the Holy Spirit is here while writing those words. All I can say is, “Thank You Jesus.” This experience has been impactful in my own life. I hope my personal stories and testimonies serve as a vehicle of hope for your own life. God is our Redeemer, and our Redeemer lives!
“I know that my Redeemer lives…” (Job 19:25, NIV)
The Birth of Kingdom Timekeepers and Redeem Your Time
After my revelation and breakthrough, ideas started flowing again, but this time was different. This time was with purpose. I had clarity again, but with peace. The Lord reminded me to study the Book of Genesis chapter 1 to teach me how to redeem my time by modeling the way He orders each day during creation, and He led me to read this book to learn about seizing my day.
The idea here is to redeem our time with God by prioritizing Him. When we do things without God, we experience a sense of loss. As someone who's always had a scattered mind and no structure whatsoever, a need to have order was of utmost importance if I wanted a business, ministry, and even bring order into my life. The Lord gave me the idea to design the Redeem Your Time To-Do List, and after that, another idea showed up to create the companion The Redeem Your Time Hour by Hour Insert. You can grab them both for free here.
Just having a to-do list where we jot down those things that supposedly are going to help us “look busy,” or “move forward,” are not working. For so many years, I wanted to have planners with calendars filled with things to do, commitments, appointments, and all the things to look busy and important, so that I can tell people, “Let me check my calendar.” How foolish is that?!
That is not the way God wants us to go through life. God is a God of order not disorder. His “yoke is easy and His burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30; 1 Corinthians 14:33).
Our To-Do List Is Not Enough
Our to-do list is not enough, but here are 4 ways you can redeem your time:
- Invite God in everything you do. This year, I’ve heard from all angles to spend time with God. We can hear from Him in our quiet times. It’s impossible to hear what God has to say to us in the noise. We may make thousands of excuses as to why we can’t have quiet times with the Lord. but I bet I can help you find at least 15 minutes in your schedule to spend time with God. Stop scrolling social media. There’s your time. Ahum, I said that.
- Ask God to order your mind. It is so important to renew our mind every day (Romans 12:2), and meditate on God’s Word day and night (Psalm 1:2; Joshua 1:8). We cannot go through life trying to find solutions to problems when God has all the solutions we need. Go and talk to Him and bring this matter before Him. I guarantee you He will do just that. He will order your mind, but He will also order your steps (Psalm 37:23, AMP).
- Ask God to give you structure. When I asked the Lord to give me structure, He directed me to study Genesis 1 deeply, and then He led me to read this book. After that, He gave me the idea of creating a system that will allow me to organize my scattered mind, and allocate each task I wrote down in my to-do list to a dedicated day and time. - Plan your week, days, and hours accordingly. The freebies I mentioned in this blog post, will help you organize not only your weeks, days, and hours, but also your entire month. This also helps you if you are a content creator. Whether you create YouTube videos, social media posts, or blog posts, these freebies are also for you.
Final Words
Why your to-do list isn’t working is because we take God out of our lives. We begin feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stressed, depressed, oppressed, and frustrated because we do things in our will. We stopped talking to God and asked for His direction because the process seems slow, and we want things now.
We operate through life, ministry, and business with no foundation or structure, and we face challenges along the way that could’ve been prevented. We don’t stop and analyze to see what’s going on and it never crossed our minds to build a business that gives us peace and sustainability. Believe me, there is such a thing as having a peaceful business. It all begins by making a decision to slow down, let God take over, focus on one thing, and be a student willing to learn to redeem your time with God.
